This month marks the 15-year anniversary of this newsletter, which we started to provide focused information relevant to those who use the MEDITECH EHR. We remain committed to bringing information that most industry sources ignore. I want to thank those of you who have commented over the years that you find it valuable. I appreciate the support and encouragement.

MEDITECH continues to make interoperability a priority, and their commitment to working with other vendors is reflected by their leadership role within the CommonWell Health Alliance. In October MEDITECH hosted this group’s Annual General Meeting and Fall Summit. The following is from the MEDITECH website:
MEDITECH Executive Vice President Helen Waters discusses the group’s interoperability progress in a guest post on the CommonWell Health Alliance Blog. MEDITECH has been a contributing member since 2015, working on interoperability solutions that improve outcomes and provide value to providers and the communities they serve.

There continues to be a lot of interest in 6.1. Below are three recent press releases from MEDITECH announcing recent clients that have signed for 6.1:
We have encountered a company that has several interesting solutions to assist with the growth in collecting from patients due to the rapid increase in high deductible plans as well as the increase in credit card payments with the related security and compliance issues.
OnPlan Health has developed a proprietary segmenting engine to analyze patients’ payment history and relevant credit data to determine a monthly payment amount they can afford. They deliver a range of tailored options to patients that allows them to self-activate a plan and automatically combine new balances. They have seen impressive results with cash improvement and lower collection costs. Further, they have a solution that incorporates the necessary security and compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS).

Each month we share our KLAS rankings and some comments from clients. We believe KLAS provides the best representation on how vendors are performing in the eyes of their clients in our industry. We hope this serves as a reminder to check KLAS rankings and commentary when considering a consulting company.
In every category we score above the industry average. As of November 8, here are our rankings:
5th – HIT Enterprise Implementation Leadership – We were awarded “Best in KLAS” for this category for 2015/2016. Please note that only one other MEDITECH READY certified company is even ranked in this category.
1st – Technical Services – Our score has improved since year-end as well. This category covers report writing, data repository and pro-ration rules services.
10th – IT Advisory Services – Previously known as Planning & Assessment, where we were “Best in KLAS” for 2014.
15th– HIT Implementation Support and Staffing – for small READY implementations and backfill resources. Note that our score is higher than every other MEDITECH consulting company.
Most of the time, we include comment(s) from KLAS. This month we wanted to share a client comment that was provided directly to NHA by one of our clients:
“After a significant information technology management change, our organization retained the expertise of two interim industry hospital information technology leaders from Navin, Haffty & Associates. Bottom line, our expectations have been surpassed. The two technology executives have achieved record results while balancing the culture of the organization. We have seen a 180° change in the morale, professionalism, execution ability, resource consumption, and planning within our IT department. I could go on and on about the seismic difference these two executives have made in our organization. We are now well positioned to have a sustainable model for IT governance, planning, management, and execution.”
– Jim Griffith, Senior VP / COO, Tanner Health System
Approximately 400 physicians and CIOs attended last month’s forum at the MEDITECH Foxborough conference center. For those unable to attend or if you attended but couldn’t get to every breakout session, click here to view MEDITECH’s summary and individual presentations.
NHA was privileged to be included, and we wanted to share a few highlights:
Finally, it wasn’t all learning, as NHA, CloudWave and Forward Advantage hosted an opening reception. Here is a link to the slideshow.

An interactive webinar series led by MEDITECH physicians
The goal of our Doctors’ Hours series is to provide an opportunity for physician leaders in the MEDITECH community to meet and interact with members of our physician consultant team. The one-hour format also includes an opportunity, at the end of the session, for attendees to ask questions and participate in discussion with the physician presenter.
