I was recently asked why I still attend the HIMSS conference. First and foremost, I go to see current and past clients. With over 125 active clients each year, I get to see only a few during my travels. HIMSS and the MEDITECH Physician/CIO Forum give me the opportunity to see many of you face to face. I especially look forward to MEDITECH’s Customer Appreciation event at HIMSS!
I also go to hear about MEDITECH’s current and planned software developments to experience firsthand our clients’ reactions. I look forward to the client presentations on behalf of MEDITECH as the organizations describe the impact and benefits from the newer products.
Lastly, I go to connect with colleagues and friends from other consulting firms to get a sense of the broader market beyond MEDITECH.
If you would like to meet with me while at HIMSS, email me at email@example.com. I hope to see you there!

MEDITECH has developed workflow documents to ensure your care teams have the proper procedures in place for effective coronavirus screening based on current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. Regardless of the arrival setting — inpatient, ED, or practice — site-defined queries can be presented wherever a patient is seen, prompting healthcare professionals to capture a patient’s symptoms and travel history. This documentation provides clinical decision support, which includes guidance on how to build and implement a series of queries, connect those queries to questionnaires, and create logic that can be used to alert and notify appropriate staff. These tools are available for each MEDITECH platform – MAGIC, C/S, 6.x and Expanse. For more information and the links to your version, click here.
As a testament to the success of Expanse, industry research firm KLAS has recognized MEDITECH for the sixth consecutive year. The fully interoperable web-based EHR has been top ranked in two key categories by the 2020 Best in KLAS: Software & Services report: Acute Care EMR (Community Hospital) and Patient Accounting & Patient Management (Community Hospital) categories. Click here to read MEDITECH’s press release.
The exclusion sites were able to take to exempt themselves in 2019 from receiving and incorporating health information, i.e., receiving, reconciling and incorporating inbound CCDs, is no longer available for 2020. All sites should have this functionality and associated workflows in place for the 2020 90-day reporting period. As with transmitting CCDs on departure or discharge, receiving an inbound CCD is a performance measure you will need in order to calculate your compliance percentage to determine how many points out of 20 you will receive.
Requirements for attesting to PI and MIPS have changed over the last year and this is not an all-inclusive list. If you require assistance with determining what you need to do to be prepared, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
