This month marks the 18th anniversary of the founding of Navin, Haffty & Associates. Our longevity and stability are testaments to our clients who have put their trust in us over the years, as well as to the quality of our staff…the key to our success. In reflecting on this anniversary, I wanted to highlight a few statistics that may explain our success. Of our workforce of approximately 200, we have 146 associates who have been with us at least five years! Of the 146 associates, 97 have been with us 7 years, 42 more than 10 years and 13 more than 15 years. This longevity allows us to provide our clients with the most experienced MEDITECH talent in the industry.
Consulting is a demanding business, requiring our associates to constantly refresh their skills to maintain current knowledge of the evolving capabilities of MEDITECH Expanse, not to mention the challenges of travel and entering high stress/high expectation situations. Our unique position of consultant longevity has led to long-term relationships with clients, often over multiple engagements and years. Further, our colleagues have developed relationships with key staff at MEDITECH, as well as within NHA, so we can draw upon a large pool of knowledge and experience that goes beyond any one consultant’s personal knowledge and experience.
Thank you for your support over the years and we hope for your continued support in the years to come.
John Haffty, President
Navin, Haffty & Associates
With MEDITECH’s announcement of a Professional Services division, we want to highlight some of their unique capabilities. First and foremost, among the goals of electronic health records is improved patient care outcomes and optimal health status for patients, MEDITECH developed a series of EHR toolkits to address specific challenges, and they are available for any customer to implement without outside assistance. However, while some healthcare organizations have realized remarkable improvements using the toolkits, many have not taken full advantage of these capabilities. Implementing these toolkits has had a direct impact on reducing instances of sepsis, CAUTI infections, and patient falls. Effective implementation involves not just software changes but stakeholder engagement, robust project management, workflow redesign, and communication.
Since MEDITECH designed and created these toolkits, they bring a deep knowledge of the toolkits and functionality, as well as an understanding of how to create the organizational support structure to successfully implement these for maximum effect. MEDITECH has taken the additional step of certifying their team in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Model for Improvement[1], for both toolkit development and professional services. Given the patient care concerns and the costs associated with any episode associated with the problems listed above, bringing in outside leadership to drive the process and assure the results makes great sense.
In addition to the toolkits previously mentioned, they have toolkits for Opioid Stewardship, Diabetes Management, and a newly released Antimicrobial Stewardship Toolkit. For more information on MEDITECH Professional Services for toolkits, contact your MEDITECH marketing consultant.

In addition to our recent research studies concluding MEDITECH Expanse hospitals outperform hospitals running Cerner and Epic on quality and value measures, we recently expanded our research to include Allscripts hospitals and found they also fall short of Expanse sites based on data submitted to CMS. Below are a few key statistics from our research:

We are pleased to share the following testimonial from one of our Expanse clients:
“Selecting Navin, Haffty & Associates was the right decision for our MEDITECH MAGIC to Expanse migration. Our goal was a big bang implementation to include Expanse Acute, Ambulatory and ED, and so we needed to partner with the industry leader who had the experience, skills and knowledge to hit the ground running and keep our project on track. The entire consulting team was top notch and did a great job ensuring our success. They were invaluable to this project and we couldn’t have done it without them!”
