POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, plans, installs, and sets up new database systems. Provides technical support for database, operating systems, and software applications, including data warehouse. Supplies input on new physical database design schemes and plans capacity and growth for new and ongoing systems. Operates as the focal point for resolving database problems and installs new production databases. Plans, writes, implements, and monitors integration tools that allow for efficient data flow between various vendor’s databases. Facilitates appropriate “front-end” decision support tools, allowing end-users to analyze database information. Writes ad-hoc reports as needed. Manages and implements requests for I.S. systems changes. Various programmer tools will be used as needed, including; Scripting Languages, Visual Basic, SQL report writers, etc. This position requires close, proactive interaction with the users and Information Systems team members. Develops and maintains effective back-up systems for all enterprise data. Performs required processes to ensure effective restore from back-up systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer Science, Healthcare, or Business-related advanced degree. Excellent process analysis skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational ability. Shows strong aptitude for programming and systems analysis. Proficient in at least one programming language and strong background with MS SQL Server. Ability to work in a team environment with coaching and performance evaluation given by all team members.
Required:
Experience in program/script/object design Experience conducting user interviews for the purposes of requirements gathering
Experience with logical and physical database design
Knowledge of database specific facilities and internal structure
Knowledge of backup technologies
Strong background in storage technologies; SAN and NAS
Experience with MS Exchange; managing and maintaining
Preferred:
Current experience with VWWare; building, managing, and maintaining virtual machines
Experience with various server platforms; Windows, Linux, etc.
